The wait is finally over. We have a new Avengers trailer, we have a new release date and more importantly, we have a title. Avengers: Endgame. The two-minute plus preview definitely sets the mood as melancholy and finds ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ still licking their wounds and mourning their fallen comrades.

What is striking about this particular trailer is that we get no info, no story details and no action set up. The focus was squarely on the original Avengers roster (and Ant-Man) because, why not remind folks that at the end of the day this is still a movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and levity is the main ingredient.

As sullen as this trailer was, there were a couple of easter eggs that are sure to wet the appetites of comic book fans everywhere. We catch a glimpse of a Thanos scarecrow plucked right from the pages of Marvel comics.

Also, we finally get our first look at ‘where-are-they-now’ Avenger, Hawkeye. By the look of things Hawkeye has embraced his alter ego and is going full Ronin a la Captain America becoming Nomad in Infinity War.
This preview is only the beginning. It wasn’t meant to answer all our questions or give us full narrative and plot details. There will be more to come possibly after the release of Captain Marvel. In the meantime we all have to wait until our heroes assemble April 26th of next year for answers to all our questions and theories.
